Stairs, getting up from a chair, a walk around the block. When the hips or knees hurt, everything that moves you gets harder. Our approach treats the joint and the way you load it.

Hip and knee pain come in a few flavors. There is the deep groin or outer-hip ache of a hip joint that is wearing or inflamed. There is the sharp knee pain going down stairs, the swelling after activity, the knee that feels like it might give. And there is tendon pain around either joint, at the outside of the hip, below the kneecap or at the hamstring attachment, that nags for months.
What these have in common is load. The low back and pelvis decide how weight is passed into the hips and knees, and when they are restricted or uneven, one joint takes more than its share. Dr. Petrilak looks at the whole lower chain, which is why patients who have treated the knee alone sometimes find the answer was higher up.
Knees, hips and the tendons around them are among the most common places StemWave acoustic wave therapy is used. It stimulates the body's own healing response in damaged tissue with no injections and no surgery.
Gentle Activator adjusting of the pelvis, low back, hip and knee so weight is shared evenly and the painful joint stops doing all the work.
Some knees and hips need an orthopedic opinion. Dr. Petrilak tells you honestly when that is the case rather than treating a joint that needs something else.

The exam looks at how you walk, squat and step, how each joint moves, and how the low back and pelvis are contributing. You will be shown what is restricted and why the painful joint is overloaded.
Care typically combines StemWave sessions over the painful tissue with gentle adjusting of the joints feeding into it. You can watch a StemWave session filmed in our Allentown office on our services page. Progress is tracked visit to visit, with no mandatory package.
"I was always skeptical of seeing a chiropractor, but not anymore. I had lower back, hip and knee issues when I started. After a few months of care my back and hip issues are gone and my knee is significantly better. I can even go for runs again, which I haven't been able to do in years without pain. Thank you Dr. Alan!"
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. If yours is not here, call us and we will help.
Often, yes. Many knee problems are driven by how the pelvis, hip and ankle are moving, and restoring that motion takes load off the knee. StemWave therapy is used directly on painful knee tissue. Structural damage that needs a surgeon is identified during the exam and referred.
StemWave is used for the painful soft tissue and inflammation around arthritic joints, and many patients with arthritis find it helps them move more comfortably. It does not rebuild cartilage, and we will be straightforward about what it can and cannot do for your joint.
Sessions are short. There is no numbing, no downtime and you can go about your day afterward.
It can be. Some patients want to improve comfort and function while they decide, and others are not surgical candidates. Dr. Petrilak will give you an honest assessment of whether conservative care can help in your situation.
No forced long-term contracts. Just an accurate diagnosis and care built around you. Call today or request an appointment and we'll take it from there.
